Although much of our focus this Fourth of July has been on decorating for our big barbecue, I didn’t want to completely ignore the house. One of the things that I liked about this house when we chose it was the mantel above the fireplace. Stringing themed decorations from it is an easy way to decorate the living room as I found with my last minute efforts to decorate for Easter this year.
To spruce up the mantel for the Fourth, I decided to combine my love of paper design with fabric. I designed a free printable AMERICA burlap bunting. Although you can easily print out this bunting and string it together as is, I decided to add a burlap backing some baker’s twine to create a one of a kind Fourth of July decoration that we can use year after year.
You can download the paper pieces to your AMERICA bunting here:

You Will Need:
Free printable AMERICA bunting
1 1/2 yards of burlap fabric
White glue or other adhesive
Red or blue baker’s twine
1. Download and print our free printable AMERICA bunting on heavy cardstock. Cut out each bunting piece.
2. Glue the paper buntings onto the burlap fabric. Let dry.
Cut around the burlap fabric leaving a quarter to half inch border around the paper bunting piece.
3. Punch a small hole in each bunting piece.
String baker’s twine through each bunting piece.
Use your patriotic bunting to dress up a fireplace mantel, dessert table or even a bare wall. It’s a great way to add a touch of the Fourth of July to any room or party. I know that I’ve really been enjoying looking at this small reminder of Independence Day all month long.
